Cultural Humility and Leadership Year-Long Cohort Program
Our year-long cohort program consists of six 2-part courses designed to address critical core competencies of cultural humility. Workshops can be taken as standalone units by those not interested in completing the full program and receiving a certificate.
What you will learn:
Course content includes approaches to cultural humility, communication skills, cross-cultural awareness, stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, and organizational change. The core competencies covered include:
- self-awareness (attitudes, knowledge, skills, and abilities)
- core elements of cultural humility
- understanding institutional and internalized oppression
- calling-in communication skills
- change agent/action skills
Program Details:
Monthly webinars are provided by special guests, content specialists, organization associates, and partners. Expect a minimum of 2 to 3 hours of reading and activities in addition to one course session per month.
You will have an equity partner and peer support group for the duration of the program. You will also have an opportunity to participate in up to four one-on-one coaching sessions with a team lead.
Interested participants must submit a letter of interest before the selection window, which is annually during July-August. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with acceptance notification provided in August. Applicants are prioritized based on position vulnerability, needs, and community impact/reach.
Tuition covers all program manuals, resources, monthly one-on-one coaching, peer support coordination, self-care tools and guidance, and networking opportunities. Internship and volunteer discounts are available.
Program Courses:
DEI, Harm Reduction & Cultural Humility
This 2-session course covers the core strategies for cultural humility processing on a personal and organizational level.
This 2-session course covers the identification of personal elements of “self” and various components of personal and social identities that influence how we walk through the world and relate to others.
True Community & Trust in Teams
This 2-session course covers how to increase cross-cultural knowledge through deep listening, trust, and community building, and how this enhances cultural humility.
This 2-session course introduces the principles and skills of calling-in dialogue.
Stereotypes, Prejudice, Discrimination
This 2-session course covers personally held stereotypes, prejudices, and discriminatory behavior, including how these behaviors affect client services, especially the delivery of harm reduction tools and techniques.
Organization Equity & Individual Transformation Strategies
This 2-session course covers ways to help facilitate change, including why understanding change is central to the overall effectiveness and sustainability of cultural humility in harm reduction.
